How Much Food to Order for a Kids Birthday Party
Updated: 5 days ago
Plan about half an adult portion per child, and a full portion for every adult attending. For cake, order roughly half a kilo per 10 guests. Most birthday guest lists are half children and half parents, so count both.

The Mistake Almost Everyone Makes
Families count the children and forget that each child arrives with one or two adults. Twenty children can easily mean thirty five people eating. Count the adults properly and the food works out; count only the children and you will run short an hour in.
What Children Actually Eat
Less than you think of the main course, and more than you think of the snacks. Chowmein, pasta, tikki, fries, spring rolls and anything on a stick disappear fastest. A full rice and curry spread is mostly for the parents, so plan the menu with that split in mind.
How Much Cake
Half a kilo per 10 guests gives a dessert-sized slice each. So 30 guests need about 1.5 kg and 50 guests about 2.5 kg. If there is a dessert counter as well, you can order a little less; if the cake is the main sweet, order a little more.
Our Catering
Packages start at Rs 8,000, with per-plate menus at Rs 699 for veg and Rs 899 for non-veg. Food is cooked live on site for most parties, which children and parents both notice. Tell us the number of children and the number of adults separately and we will plan the quantities.
Timing the Food
Serve snacks from the start, cut the cake about an hour and a half in, then open the main food. Children will not wait politely for two hours, and hungry children are the fastest way to end a party early.
